Back by popular demand, this course sold out fast last year. Based on the recent book Blending Leadership and led by that book’s authors Stephen Valentine and Reshan Richards, this is an active and transformative learning experience. School leaders will expand their leadership capacity by discussing cutting-edge leadership practices, participating in growth-oriented activities, and building their own learning muscles to make learning-while-leading possible. There is no greater meta-skill for the leader who wishes to remain agile and thus relevant to the unpredictable nature of the educational enterprise.

The Learning Experience:
Blending Leadership is an online course designed for school leaders ranging from division heads to department chairs to grade level leaders to heads of school. This course provides the knowledge base, practical experiences, authentic outcomes, and professional and personal networks to help participants lead effectively, both online and off, in today’s ever-changing technological school landscape. As part of the course, participants will engage in practical activities and complete tangible projects for their school or organization, receiving feedback from course peers, facilitators, and outside collaborators and experts.
Participants who actively engage in the class will serve their current school or organization by working on relevant tasks; building their own personal and professional networks by meeting online and (where possible) face-to-face; and contributing to class artifacts including blog posts and rapid action research.

Stephen Valentine is an educator, school leader, writer, and serial collaborator. He serves as the assistant head, Upper School, and director of Academic Leadership at Montclair Kimberley Academy.
Dr. Reshan Richards is an educator, researcher, and entrepreneur. An adjunct assistant professor at Teachers College, Columbia University, Reshan is also the chief learning officer and cofounder of Explain Everything.
Katrina O’Connor is an Instructional Coach and Senior Teacher at West Point Grey Academy in Vancouver, Canada, where she supports growth and integration of inquiry and other evidence-based teaching practices across intra- and interdisciplinary settings.
