Tech Deep Dives


Commitment: July 10-14, 2-4 hours/day

A Learning Management System can be a powerful, versatile learning environment that supports student-centered learning. In this five-day tech intensive, you’ll take a deep dive into Canvas, the Learning Management System that GOA and many other schools use. Each day, you’ll learn a new way to use Canvas to make learning experiences more student-centered, more engaging, and more personalized. You’ll put these ideas into practice by completing daily projects for feedback.

Topics include leveraging discussions; providing effective feedback via Speedgrader, outcomes and rubrics; best practices in page design; wayfinding in Canvas; and exploring external app integrations.

Commitment: July 31-August 3, 2-4 hours/day
Member School Participant: $200
Non-member School Participant: $300

What are the tech tools GOA loves? How do we use them? In this Deep Dive, you’ll be introduced to and practice with GOA-approved tools that support student-centered learning. Each day, you’ll be introduced to a new tool and learn it by designing an experience that leverages its best features. By working with colleagues and a GOA coach, you’ll share ideas and get critical feedback on how to weave best practices in teaching and learning into creative use of technology.

Tools include (participants will be given opportunities to choose their own pathways): EdPuzzle, Flipgrid, Slack, Thinglink, Padlet, SeeSaw, PearDeck.
